Messy Monkeys is a fantastic place to come for all your messy play needs… it saves you having to clean up your lovely home for one! However for those of you missing out we’ve come up with a few ideas that shouldn’t cause you too much stress in your house… maybe try them out in the garden on a sunny day?!
This week one of our lovely little babies won a packet of cornflour as their prize for being our messiest monkey so we thought we best let them (and anyone else with spare cornflour kicking about) know what to do with it!
For those of your not in the know cornflour is the main ingredient of one of our favourite messy play activities – gloop!
Simply mix your cornflour up with a little warm water and stir like crazy… hey presto you have a pliable liquedy-solid (that’s a technical term) that can be squleched and squidged for hours on end!
You can mix in glitter and paint to add to imaginary play – we turn it green for Messy Science bogeys or purple for Halloween slime… super messy fun!
Little monkeys love to explore how sticky it is, ooze it between their fingers and toes – grown ups often comment on how therapeutic it is too!
So there you go… cornflour… fab for manual dexterity, exploration of solids and liquids and good old messy fun for all ages!
Play dough is a fantabulous messy play matter, great for little hands learning to manipulate tools and develop their find motor skills.
We use different cutters and colours, add textures and even change the smell to provide a great source of fun and learning for young children.
Make SPACE play dough with black paint and glitter or HALLOWEEN play dough with green paint and cinnamon spices – it’s brilliant stuff!
We’ve found that it’s hard to chill out and allow your child to be truly creative when you’ve spent a fortune on shop bought dough; mixing those lovely, expensive colours together can mess with some mum’s orderly minds.
Messy Monkeys comes to the rescue of frustrated monkeys everywhere with our cheap and easy play dough recipe… mix away kids; stick it in water, cover it in paint… ahhh now everyone can relax!

Method…
Just stick it all in a mixing bowl and mix like crazy. When it cools down you can add paint to colour it, or glitter to make it sparkle, or spices to make it smell. Enjoy!

Due to the high salt content of play dough this is not to be eaten please!
