messy play isn’t just a giggle… reason # 9
***Mark Making***
In order to be able to hold a pencil and get to grips with the finer detail of writing, it’s important to be able to make BIG marks on a paint wall with a brush or in jelly in a gloop tray… the shape of an O is the same no matter how we write it so starting BIG is a great precursor to writing small.
We also develop skills with pens, chalk, crayons in circle time – learning to ‘dot dot dot’ and ‘scribble scribble scribble’ gives your child a head start in the muscle development required for when they (sob…) head off to school.
